The Delusion of the Saint, 1912

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating and thought-provoking artwork by Henry Justice Ford. This mesmerizing colour lithograph, part of a private collection, transports us to a world where legends and folklore intertwine with Christianity. In this enchanting scene, we witness a saint standing atop a pillar as he passionately preaches to an audience below. The saint's flowing robes and majestic chariot create an aura of divinity around him. Clouds swirl above, hinting at the meteorological wonders that surround this mystical moment. Ford's attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the print – from the intricate costumes worn by heroes and saints gathered around the pillar to the graceful horses that accompany them. The artist skillfully captures both the physical beauty and spiritual essence of these characters. "The Delusion of the Saint" invites us into a world where faith meets imagination. It challenges our perception of reality and prompts us to question what lies beyond our everyday experiences. Through his artistry, Ford reminds us that there are realms beyond what science can explain – realms where legends come alive and miracles happen. This timeless masterpiece from 1912 continues to captivate viewers with its ethereal charm and profound symbolism. As we gaze upon it, we are transported into a realm where saints preach from pillars amidst swirling clouds – reminding us that sometimes delusions can reveal deeper truths about ourselves and our beliefs.
