Looking downhill, the shops on the right hand side were demolished over twenty years ago to make way for The Galleries shopping mall. Many shop premises on the other side of the road disappeared in 2000 for redevelopment leaving the 1930s Odeon cinema as pretty much a lone survivor. Circa 1963
