Zanamivir flu drug, molecular model C016 / 5798

Zanamivir flu drug, molecular model. Zanamivir is an antiviral drug (commonly known by its trade name Relenza). It is administered in spray form for inhalation, and reduces the length of an attack of influenza (flu) if taken early in the course of the disease. It works by blocking the enzyme neuraminidase, which is found on the surface of the influenza virus. The molecular formula is C12.H20.N4.O7. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (white), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red)

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the molecular model of Zanamivir, a powerful antiviral drug commonly known as Relenza. Designed to combat influenza (flu), this medication is administered through inhalation in spray form and has proven effective in reducing the duration of flu symptoms when taken early on during the illness. The molecular structure of Zanamivir works by obstructing neuraminidase, an enzyme found on the surface of the influenza virus. The image presents a white background with a detailed illustration that portrays atoms represented as spheres. Each atom is color-coded: carbon and hydrogen appear in white, nitrogen in blue, and oxygen in red. This artistic representation provides insight into the chemical composition and structural complexity of this pharmaceutical marvel. With its tubular arrangement and intricate bonds, this molecular model exemplifies the intersection between chemistry and medicine. It serves as a testament to our continuous advancements in pharmacology and highlights how scientific breakthroughs can revolutionize healthcare. Created by RAMON ANDRADE 3DCIENCIA/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY, this artwork seamlessly combines elements from biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, and medical sciences to visually depict Zanamivir's potency against influenza viruses. Its striking composition captures both scientific precision and aesthetic beauty while offering viewers an intriguing glimpse into the world of cutting-edge pharmaceutical research.
