Snowy and hazy central Russia showing the Ob River
November 9, 2009 - Snowy and hazy central Russia. The Ob River dominates much of the image, it runs nearly diagonally across the scene. The Ob runs north and west where it is joined by the Irtysh River. The water from these rivers continues north where it empties into the Gulf of Ob, which is a long bay in the Kara Sea, which itself adjoins to the Arctic Ocean.
Near the bottom center right of the image, the Ob bends and makes a W shape, part of the W is just cut off by the bottom of the image. Extending southwards from this section of the Ob are long dark marks in the landscape. These lines, which run southward to the Kazakhstan border are wetland areas along tributaries of the Ob. additional wetlands are visible in the bowls of the Obs W

This print captures the snowy and hazy beauty of central Russia, showcasing the majestic Ob River as its focal point. Taken on November 9,2009, this image portrays a winter wonderland where the landscape is blanketed in pristine white snow. The Ob River gracefully traverses diagonally across the scene, dominating the frame with its powerful presence. As it flows north and westward, the Ob River merges with the Irtysh River before continuing its journey towards the Gulf of Ob. This long bay in the Kara Sea connects to the Arctic Ocean, highlighting Russia's vast reach into these icy waters. Intriguing features can be observed near the bottom center right of this photograph. Here, we witness an intriguing W-shaped bend in the course of the Ob River; however, part of it remains hidden beyond our view at the bottom edge. Extending southwards from this section are dark marks that traverse through wetland areas along tributaries of this mighty river. These wetlands stretch alluringly towards Kazakhstan's border and add depth to Central Russia's topography. The serene ambiance created by fog and haze further enhances this visual masterpiece captured from space by Stocktrek Images' satellite view photography. With no human presence visible within this expansive landscape, one can truly appreciate nature's grandeur showcased in every detail – from snow-covered landmasses to meandering rivers and misty horizons.
